Ski in Serre Chevalier

A major ski resort located in heart of the French Alps, Serre Chevalier has one of the largest and finest ski areas in France with about 250 Kms of ski pistes in the valley. Comprising of 13 villages in the Villeneuve-la-Salle, le Monêtier-les-Bains, Chantemerle and Briancon (the highest city in Europe) areas, this is one of the largest resorts in Europe that gives its visitors the best of everything - accommodation, infrastructure, skiing area, an excellent lift system and environment.

Whether you want to go for a luxury vacation, a family vacation or just enjoy the thrills of skiing and snowboarding in France, the Serre Chevalier resort is the place. In addition to providing world class skiing facilities for ski professionals and amateurs, the Serre Chevalier also has a family friendly atmosphere with a number of activities for children and families.

The ski area of the Serre Chevalier consists of a varied range of pistes, for the mildest skiing experience to the most thrilling one. You can enjoy skiing at the resort’s 103 slopes, with the lowest being 1200m and the highest at 2800m. The tree line of the ski area ends at 2000m leaving almost 800m of challenging ski area through the trees for advanced and intermediate level skiers.

The advanced skiers can also enjoy the 35 km cross country skiing that runs through all the villages in the valley, along with a few off-trail touring terrains of the valley that can be accessed with the help of tour guides. The ski resort also has separate gentle beginner-trails and slopes through the villages and at the top of the mountain.

Besides the ski area, the resort also has an altitude snow park at Villeneuve that has big and small jumps for amateur and skilled snowboarders. The snow park has a separate area for beginners and families, which allows them to practice and discover new jumps, while intermediate snowboarders can practice at the area with 5-10m jumps to move to the advanced level. There is also an area with higher jumps, ramps and bumps for the advanced level snowboarders and freestylers.

The resort has remarkably good snow conditions (augmented with natural snow) with 63 lifts transferring about 71000 people per hour. The entrance pass to this fun-filled ski resort is reasonably priced, with the prices based on the duration of your stay – it can be from 3 hours to 15 days. The resort also has Ski Schools at the four towns in the area, where you can learn different levels of Piste skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding.
